How To Eliminate Hip Pain and Stiffness Without Medications, Surgery, Or Skipping Your Workouts!

One day you’re in the gym doing your usual set of squats or lunges, and then all of a sudden you get hit with intense pain in your hip. You think to yourself “Oh man, this really hurts, but I’m sure it’ll feel better by tomorrow.”

You might ice it when you get home, or take some medication to ease the pain, but then a few hours later, the pain is still there. It continues to slow you down you for several weeks, and now you can barely run or lift without experiencing the pain.

Naturally, you go to the doctor’s office and they tell you to ice it and rest it, and to stop running and squatting because those things are “bad for your hips,” and they might even give you some anti-inflammatories and pain medication. Even though you don’t want to stop exercising, you do it because it’s what they recommended.

Eventually your hip starts to feel a little better, so you feel like you’re ready to start running and lifting again. Unfortunately, once you start to get back into it, the pain suddenly starts again, and you’re left frustrated and unsure of what to do.

This is the vicious cycle that many people find themselves in.

Your hip hurts, so you see a healthcare provider and take their advice to rest it and stop training, and your hip starts to feel better after some time. Unfortunately, you may have lost strength and muscle mass while you were resting because you haven’t done anything to truly resolve what’s going on at the source. Once it starts to feel better, you try to start working out again, only for the pain to return, and then the cycle starts all over again. This is something that so many of our clients have experienced before they have come to see us.

How Are We Different?

What our clients find is that when they come to see us, they actually get a customized plan that helps get their hips feeling better and stronger at the same time. Because of this, when their pain is resolved and they return to their normal training, they are able to do so without their pain coming back and finally get out of the vicious cycle.

What Other People Just Like You Are Saying About Barbell Physical Therapy & Performance In New Haven...

- Matt M.

“I went to Ryan for an assessment due to pain in my right adductor and hip when squatting. As a powerlifter who squats multiple times a week, dealing with pain that made me unable to squat heavy for over a month was frustrating. Ryan came up with a plan to have me back to squatting pain free in eight weeks that included different squat variations and exercises to perform at home. By the end of our sessions, not only was my right adductor and hip pain free, my right leg actually started feeling stronger than the left during squats due to the exercises we worked on. I’ll now be using the exercises Ryan taught me in my own training to strengthen both legs. I can’t recommend Ryan enough to any lifter trying to work through an injury!”

- Matthew A.

“I originally sought Ryan out after struggling with shoulder pain during benching and hip pain during squatting. I had been trying to overcome the pain and find a solution for nearly 2 years with not much to show for it. I even saw an in-network PT during that time, but without a physicians referral, it made addressing my issues very difficult. The decision to go out-of-network to see someone like Ryan, who specializes with rehabbing lifting injuries, was absolutely the right move. After working with him for the past 10 weeks, I can now perform all my lifts with proper technique and more importantly, pain free! If you’re a lifter struggling with any sort of pain, I highly suggest you check him out. He is a pleasure to work with and you will not be disappointed!”
