How To Eliminate Knee Pain and Stiffness Without Medications, Surgery, Or Skipping Your Workouts!

One day you’re out on your usual run, or you’re in the gym doing a set of squats or lunges, and then all of a sudden you get hit with what feels like a lightning bolt of pain in your knee. You think to yourself “Oh man, this really hurts, but I’m sure it’ll feel better by tomorrow.”

You go to bed later that night, only to wake up the next morning, but the pain is still there. It continues to bug you for several weeks, and now you can barely run or lift without experiencing the pain.

Naturally, you go to the doctor’s office and they tell you to ice it and rest it, and to stop running and squatting because those things are “bad for your knees,” and they might even give you some anti-inflammatories and pain medication. Even though you don’t want to stop exercising, you do it because it’s what they recommended.

Eventually your knee starts to feel a little better, so you feel like you’re ready to start running and lifting again. Unfortunately, once you start to get back into it, the pain suddenly starts again, and you’re left frustrated and unsure of what to do.

This is the vicious cycle that many people find themselves in.

Your knee hurts, so you see a healthcare provider and take their advice to rest it and stop training, and your knee starts to feel better. Unfortunately, you may have lost some strength, muscle mass, conditioning etc, and you haven’t done anything to truly resolve what’s going on in your knee. Once it starts to feel better, you try to start training again, only for the pain to return, and the cycle starts all over again. This is something that so many of our clients have experienced before they have come to see us.

How Are We Different?

What our clients find is that when they come to see us, they actually get a customized plan that helps get their knees feeling better and stronger at the same time. Because of this, when their pain is resolved and they return to their normal training, they are able to do so without their pain coming back.

What Other People Just Like You Are Saying About Barbell Physical Therapy & Performance In New Haven...

- Matt M.

“I found Ryan by chance after looking for someone who specialized in athletes. My knee pain didn’t go away like it normally does after my last PT test, and I couldn’t run more than a quarter mile without it hurting. I gave up squating and leg press in the gym a couple years ago. I also had some time in PT from another general physical therapist but besides being diagnosed as over pronating and getting shoe inserts, I didn’t see much for results. My goal was just to be able to run enough (1.5-2 mi) to just meet the minimums. After a half dozen sessions with Ryan I started noticing slight improvements that compounded over time. Since it was out of network, I felt more invested in it and took the time to ask all the questions I could,, and also do the work at home that he gave me. He was able to explain clearly the reasoning behind certain exercises. The facility that he works out of is top notch and I wish I lived closer so I could join it. Overall very satisfied!”

“After a 12-year pro soccer playing career, my body was a mess. I’ve had 3 knee surgeries and just overall have felt banged up. I told Ryan that my goal was to just play soccer for fun for as long as I physically can, pickup or jump in training with my players. He has taken that request as seriously as if I was trying to play pro again. Not only has my knee pain diminished but I have learned how to lift and what I need to do in order to stay this way. He isn’t out to make you rely on him, his goal is to get you healthy and get you to a point where you don’t need him. That is not common. That is not what a lot of physical therapy is about. I would recommend him to anyone who has any kind of nagging injury or chronic pain. 100 percent sold; worth every cent.”
