How To Eliminate Lifting-Related Pain Without Medications, Surgery, Or Skipping Your Workouts!

One day you’re out on your usual run, or you’re in the gym doing a set, and then all of a sudden you get hit with what feels like a lightning bolt of pain. You think to yourself “Oh man, this really hurts, but I’m sure it’ll feel better by tomorrow.”

You go to bed later that night, only to wake up the next morning, but the pain is still there. It continues to bug you for several weeks, and now you can barely lift without experiencing the pain.

Naturally, you go to the doctor’s office and they tell you to ice it and rest, and to stop weightlifting because it’s “bad for your body,” and they might even give you some anti-inflammatories and pain medication. Even though you don’t want to stop lifting, you do it because it’s what they recommended.

Eventually you start to feel a little better, so you feel like you’re ready to start training and lifting again. Unfortunately, once you start to get back into it, the pain suddenly starts again, and you’re left frustrated and unsure of what to do.

This is the vicious cycle that many people find themselves in.

You’re in a lot of pain so you see a healthcare provider and take their advice to rest it and stop training, and you start to feel better. Unfortunately, you may have lost some strength, muscle mass, conditioning etc., and you haven’t done anything to truly resolve what’s going on in your body. Once it starts to feel better, you try to start weightlifting again, only for the pain to return, and the cycle starts all over again. This is something that so many of our clients have experienced before they have come to see us.

How Are We Different?

What our clients find is that when they come to see us, they actually get a customized plan that helps get them feeling better and stronger at the same time. Because of this, when their pain is resolved and they return to their normal training, they are able to do so without their pain coming back.

What Other People Just Like You Are Saying About Barbell Physical Therapy & Performance In New Haven...

- Thomas Q.

“I had been experiencing on and off knee pain since I started weightlifting back in May 2018. Usually I would just push through it and eventually it would go away after a few weeks or a month. Over the past few months, the pain had gotten so bad to the point that I began cutting my workouts short due to the level of pan I was experiencing in the clean and front/back squats. I reached out to Barbell PT after hearing other weightlifters at my gym having success in rehabbing similar injuries at the clinic. After working with Barbell PT for five weeks, my knee pain improved dramatically WITHOUT having to stop training. We worked together to slightly tweak my training to limit knee discomfort and came up with a game plan to limit the chance of a similar issue with my knees coming up in the future. Barbell PT is the clinic you should be going to if you take your barbell training seriously and want to see real results on improving an injury.”

“Can’t recommend Barbell PT enough!!! Started working with Barbell 10 weeks ago after very badly straining my hip squatting. I tried at first to remedy the pain on my own with stretches etc but that only made it worse as the pain continued to wake me up in my sleep whenever I would move. Barbell is unlike any other physical therapy clinic I have ever worked with. My PT at Barbell was extremely knowledgeable about the body in an athletic sense, they will not tell you you can never squat, deadlift or lift in general again, and they challenge your injury (in a good way). After the hip strain I could not squat at all without extreme pain and pulling, but a few weeks into working with Barbell, we started to incorporate front and zercher squats which kept my torso much more upright, ultimately keeping my pain and the hip pulling at a minimum and allowing me to still squat in my training. Well here we are, 10 weeks later and I’m able to rock a 135lb back squat again with basically no pain or pulling, all thanks to Barbell PT! If you’re struggling with an injury or any nasty lifting pain and don’t want to stop lifting altogether, reach out to Barbell PT!!!”
