I have been suffering from lower back issues for many years that would impede my ability to strength train. I would go to my doctor, he would prescribe PT, and I’d be off to the local PT clinic for my eight week program. I was always told to stop certain movements or exercises because they can aggravate the issue I was having.
Then, I found Barbell Physical Therapy and Performance. My therapist helped me understand the anatomy of my injury and then constructed a detailed roadmap to recovery, which included elements of strength training and the proper movements/techniques to avoid further injury. I am several weeks into our program and can say my back pain has almost disappeared!

I came to Barbell PT after sustaining what I thought was a serious back injury while deadlifting. Having heard of the practice through my membership at Revolution Fitness I did not waste time and contacted them a day after the injury occurred. Being a coach myself, I have some experience dealing with injury management, but this went beyond my scope and I wanted to hire a professional to help me create a progressive program that would have me not lose valuable time at the gym. I knew that Barbell PT focused on keeping lifters lifting versus saying “just don’t do x movement.” After three sessions, I’ve learned quite a few new movements to help with my back issue and with them, I’ve been able to already work back up to lifting at 95% of my max efforts. While I’m still dealing with some issues, the improvement has been really incredible and I’m extremely confident I’ll be 100% after our next three sessions. I also have been able to sleep better after a few sleepless nights post injury. I also feel like I can maintain this program after our initial sessions are done to work out the way I want with no pain in the future. This is by far one of the most valuable investments I’ve made for my health. If you’re in need of help with an injury or pain and don’t want to be told to stop lifting, Barbell PT is your place! After pain from a repeat hamstring injury, I reached out to Barbell Physical Therapy & Performance because I wanted to learn strategies to avoid further injury or limitations. I was initially hesitant after working with other PTs in the past who didn’t understand lifting or help me prepare to return to my normal activities. Plus, I didn’t want to stop training and just do some stretches or the bike for several weeks. My experience with the physical therapist at Barbell PT & Performance was AWESOME and nothing like previous PT attempts. My PT knew about powerlifting, how it impacted my body and was able to help carve out a plan for meeting my overall lifting goals without pain. It is so easy to get discouraged with an injury, but my PT at Barbell PT & Performance helped keep motivation high by making short term goals where we could track the improvement and really listening to my feedback about the exercises he prescribed and my training in general. As of last week, both my deadlifts and squats are back to about 90% of my pre-injury levels and I know that I will be able to push a little harder each week. I don’t anticipate having more troubles with my hamstring, but if I get any other injuries, Barbell PT & Performance will be the first place I go.

I am extremely satisfied with the services I’ve received at Barbell PT and Performance. I’ve been dealing with a neck strain/upper trap strain since starting CrossFit 4 years ago. It’s flared up maybe 4 or 5 times. I tried chiropractic care and various methods of self-imposed body work (percussion massage gun, EMS, foam rolling/lax ball smash), but nothing seemed to rid me of my injury completely. I decided to see Barbell PT and Performance after my most recent flare up. I wanted to get healthy once and for all and prevent the injury from recurring. My therapist at Barbell PT and Performance was able to properly diagnose my injury within our first visit and provided the first steps of my recovery plan the next day. Having a targeted recovery plan, as opposed to general exercises that may or may not be addressing the root cause of the issue, is the key to getting better quickly and staying healthy. I still have a couple more sessions with Barbell PT and Performance, but I’m already feeling much better and am back to full time training. I’ve even performed exercises that tend to cause a flare up and it’s been pain free. I recommend Barbell PT and Performance to anyone who may be dealing with an injury, new or chronic. My therapist is extremely knowledgeable and very personable. My sessions are both helpful and enjoyable. I have confidence that, with the help of Barbell PT and Performance, I will be able to resolve this injury for good.

Ryan is the best! He is very knowledgeable and helpful in terms of keeping you proactive while working around your injuries. Since working with Dr. Ryan for the last five weeks I’ve noticed tremendous results with my knee. I’m a professional mma fighter and I’ve been training for 10+ years. Of course being in this sport injuries are bound to happen and about 8 weeks ago I suffered a pretty bad knee injury right after accepting a fight for 1/8/22 (last weekend). I tried to treat myself with rest, ice, heat, anti inflammatories, etc while coming up short. I was so determined to fight I was looking for help anywhere I could. I have a good friend of mine that told me about Dr. Ryan and his field of expertise. I researched him and made the call right away.
He assessed my injury and we got to work. The workout he put me through did not cause any pain while I felt my knee was getting stronger. His approach to healing is much different than just ice and rest. It’s more like an active recovery which was exactly what I needed while training for a fight.
The knee is in a much better place right now while still striving to be better. I ended up fighting last weekend and got the win by TKO (technical knock out) in the first round of the fight. Huge thanks to Dr. Ryan and Barbell Physical Therapy for helping me reach my goal and allowing me to keep pursuing my goals. I couldn’t be happier with my experience at Barbell Physical Therapy and Performance. I’m a longtime Crossfitter who’s dealt with nagging wrist pain in some overhead movements, especially the snatch and overhead squat. Having a PT who competes in the same sport as you is a LIFE SAVER! Dr Ryan is extremely knowledgeable on all things biomechanics and demands of various sports. I saw Dr Ryan for a hip injury I had right before two really big weightlifting meets. Dr Ryan never made me stop lifting and we worked through my pain and programming with my coach in order to make sure I was able to hit all the numbers I needed to. I highly recommend Dr Ryan for any person who wants to get better but not have to stop lifting/exercising/doing their daily routines.

I somehow injured my first rib during the summer of 2020. I pushed off any treatment until February of 2021, when it got to the point where I could not turn my neck to back out of a parking spot. My barbell coach referred me to Barbell PT, which was great because I did not know any at the time. My therapist at Barbell PT was great! Within 1 week I started to have more mobility, felt less pain and was sleeping better. By the end of the program my neck and shoulders felt the best they have in years.
